Snip Snip...34 inches shorter

Heidi: 13 inches
Ashley: 11 inches
Bethany: 10 inches

Ok, so I didn't cut all of Bethany's 10 inches at once. We have cut 5 2-inch segments off in the past four weeks. You see, Bethany is a habitual hair twirler and her curls have grown long enough that when she twirls them now, they get extremely twisted. She has even gotten her finger stuck in her hair a few times to the point of cutting off the circulation in her finger. Yes, we are trying to break this habit. Yes, it is sad to see her cute curls (only on the left side) be snipped off because they are in knots.

Winter Wonderland

It was fun to start the New Year off with a little snow. We had fun building a snowman, eating it, playing in it, and going on innertube runs in the backyard (thanks to Jared for being the horsepower pulling the rope.) If it's going to be cold...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Christmas Fun!

We had a fantastic Christmas break in sunny San Diego -- shopping, delicious food, racquetball tournaments, family games, a trip to the zoo, going to the beach -- it was great! Here are a few pics from the trip. (This first one is of Ashley and Bethany picking guavas off the tree. Bethany loved eating them!)

One of our family traditions is to put on a workshop for the other family members.
This year the workshops were:

1. Flexibility and Stretching (taught by Christy...who grew half an inch because of her BYU Flexibility class). Ashley could do all the stretches without a flinch...which is more than I can say for most of the other family members.

2. Teaching Complex Ideas with Three Simple Steps (taught by Evan, with the assistance of the computer game Portal)

3. Cake Decorating (Team teachers Heidi and Jared used Katie's method of cake decorating to help everyone feel like a pro)

4. Recording a Book on Tape (Mom and Dad ran the show on this one. We recorded our own family version of Sandra Boynton's Moo, Baa, Lalala...with Ashley narrating and the rest of us doing the animal noises. Sound clip to follow...in a later post)It was a great trip and we miss the warm weather and fun family.
