During Daddy-Daughter Nights, Jared and the girls have so much fun playing, "Attention!" Basically it's where Jared is the Army Sergeant and the girls are the unruly soldiers. Don't ask me how this became their favorite game, but it is pure giggles the entire time. Anyway, here are all three of them standing at attention.
A few weeks ago Jared decided to brave it with the girls and do a campout in the pink playhouse. We started the night with a bonfire and roasting of marshmallows, then the two older girls and Jared went to the playhouse while Kailey and I kept the real house warm. Good times all around!
I had the baby monitor out there so I could hear everything that was going on and so I could bring them something if they needed anything. They had a blast playing Crazy 8's, pretending they were pioneers, and telling jokes. Ashley slept up in the loft of the playhouse and Bethany and Jared shared the floor. Woo-hoo!
What an awesome dad!!
In school we've been learning about hieroglyphs and cuneiform. We tried doing both...hieroglyphs on our papyrus scrolls and then cuneiform on clay tablets. They turned out really well I thought.
The biggest event for me in October was running the Kansas City Marathon with my brother, Evan. Here we are the morning of the race in our hotel room in the heart of Kansas City. It was awesome!
We custom made these shirts and our fellow runners loved them. And yes, the last box now has a check mark!!! :) Evan designed the front of the shirt with the Greek spelling of Victory and then wings on each side. It was great!
Yah!! We survived!!! Proudly wearing our finishers medals...
...and rewarding ourselves with a hearty breakfast...around 7pm. We had a great time spending the weekend together. The entire experience was so fun. It was great to be with other runners and there is nothing like crossing that finish line knowing that you've just completed a marathon. That's crazy!! We actually walked around for a number of hours after the race to take advantage of our time in the city, including visiting the Hallmark museum, WWI monument, Union Station, and the Kansas City Public Library.
Back at home, Jared and the girls had an entire display waiting for me. The above picture shows my "Old Life" (the alarm clock is set to 4:40am)...and the picture below has a sign that says, "New Life" with fingernail polish, slippers, magazines, my journal, bath bombs and the like. I loved it!
Halloween 2012...Kailey was our adorable German girl. :) The cool story behind the outfit is that my dad got this on his mission and I wore it for Halloween when I was Kailey's age. Both of my other girls have also worn it. Thanks, Dad!!
Bethany was a Snow Princess and reigned beautifully on Halloween.
Ashley was Super Girl and fit the part oh so well. We had fun at Jared's work as well as on a short stroll around the neighborhood.
